Prince Is Still There – In 20Ten

Prince Is Still There – In 20TenThis year  wouldn’t be complete without another great star releasing his new album. And yes, it’s Prince who’s going to present us with his latest creation, “20Ten.” Eventually, that is…

If you want own it as soon as it comes out in Europe, try to remember if you know anyone living in Britain, Belgium or Germany who can get a copy for you, as it’s not clear if Price will officially release the album in America.

Prince intendeds to initially distribute “20Ten” as a free add-on with the English “Daily Mirror” newspaper and the Belgian “Het Nieuwblad” on July 10. He’ll do the same with the German edition of “Rolling Stone” on the 22nd. Though, it is anticipated that the album will soon reach the US, distributed by Warner Bros.

The jam of three songs from the latest album, “Compassion,” “Endlessly Beginning,” and“Lavaux,” posted on the Internet by the “Daily Mirror” suggests that these songs in particular will become the hits. All in all, nine tracks will be included plus a hidden untitled bonus track.

The expectations of “20Ten” are high, maybe even too high, as Prince’s fans are expecting this album to help him finally reach the top of the charts after a rather long pause. And this album can do that; Prince wouldn’t produce something mediocre and even spoil his career. Moreover, the unique way he has decided to distribute “20Ten” gives a whole lot of assurance that the songs on it will become masterpieces of modern funk soul music.

One thing I can say — these three songs sound really good. They have something romantic  about them reminiscent of the 1984 hit “Purple Rain,” and they keep that kicking funk beat so typical of Prince. The artist has modified things a bit with some fresh sounds necessary for putting it right into the top modern hit charts.

I don’t know about you, but I’m totally interested and have already “ordered” my copy of “20Ten” right from London. Well, we’ll see if it’s really as good as it should be.
