If You Go Crazy With Salsa

If You Go Crazy With SalsaIf you go crazy with salsa… then you’re far from being alone in your infatuation. This mixture of Latin and Afro-Caribbean dancing cultures is a true “sauce with spicy flavor” — as this is what the word “salsa” actually means.

Salsa’s origin is the whole dancing world — Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Los Angeles, New York… one can count endlessly. Each of these vivid places influenced salsa’s music or motion, and contemporary salsa is full of “international” dancing elements. So, if you’re going out dancing anywhere in any country — you should know how to salsa.

Salsa is an absolute improvisation, which probably makes salsa one of the most fascinating social dances of all times. In fact, salsa is a partner dance; however, solo breaks are encouraged — the more the better.

Almost every dancing school provides salsa dancing lessons for individuals at any level of dancing proficiency. Usually, within the same class people with different grades of skills are included, so the more experienced ones help to teach the newcomers. Salsa steps are simple enough for beginners, yet true leading and following in pair dancing is achievable only by professionals.

Salsa music has 4/4 tempo and with every 8 beats dancers take 6 steps — feeling this rhythm is the best way of getting the drive of salsa. To become really good at salsa you should only practice, dancing with masters and true-lovers, and dance with as many of them as possible. Be sure, very soon you’ll have your own “dancing sauce” recipe.
