Feel The Rhythm Of Samba Dance

Feel The Rhythm Of Samba DanceWhat can be more exciting than an energetic samba dance?

I remember when I was a child I liked watching samba dancing very much. It was usually shown in Brazilian soap operas. Though I was not fond of them much, it was the only thing that used to attract my attention.

Samba, which was developed in the 19th century in Brazil,  is getting more and more popular today. In general this rhythmical festive dance is swung solo. Samba requires fast footwork so you should feel its quick rhythm. Originally samba was not a ballroom dance but it gradually progressed into one in 1930.

There are different samba styles: samba no pé, samba gafieiro, samba pagode, samba de roda and many others.

  • Samba no pé is a quick dance during which you have to change your arms and steps movements with the music. Once you feel the music, work your imagination and go ahead.
  • Samba gafieiro is probably one of the most difficult dances of samba style which  rapidly changes from a slow tempo to a fast one. Moving the feet backward and forward are its basic motions. But there’s nothing difficult about it if you have a great desire to learn something.
  • Samba pagode has several movements which are in common with samba gafieiro, yet it remains a more intimate dance with a partner. So if you prefer romantic dancing, samba pagode is  exactly for you.
  • With samba de roda, besides the music, singing and cheerful clapping are the integral parts of this dance.

People who dance samba (sambistas)  move vigorously and have quick footwork.

Now if you have decided to learn a certain type of  samba dance, you should attend a samba school for solo or a partner dance. That depends on your requirements. The main goal is to feel free when dancing, feel the mood of the music, move to the tempo and certainly smile as it’s a joyful, festive dance.

Feel the energetic rhythm of samba dance, get a lot of positive emotions and enjoy your time!
