The World Music Festival is an eight-day event held in Chicago as part of their Cultural Affairs and Special Events that promotes musicians from around the world. The musicians and the music are very diverse. You might hear old classics, jazz, or even new rock music as the performances encompass both traditional and contemporary music from many different countries and cultures. Some of the concerts are free, while some require tickets. The promoters try to keep the tickets low-cost and the concerts family-friendly.

Chicago, IL has plenty to offer to everyone and is also known as The Windy City. While you’re there for the World Music Festival, you may want to visit some of their more than 200 theaters, eat in one of more than 7,300 restaurants, browse in one of more than 200 art galleries, or visit any of a dozen museums and historical or cultural sites.

If you are a musician and would like to be considered to perform at the World Music Festival, whether you’re a polka-playing accordion player or a band that plays new rock music, you need to apply 3-6 months in advance by sending your demo tape, photos, and information to their selection committee. Many artists and entertainers attend in the audience.

If you live in the Chicago area, you can volunteer to assist during the World Music Festival as the events are held at various locations throughout the city.
