As the band announced in their press release for the album, recording took place in an extraordinary way. The new album’s songs were recorded in the studio with the intimate presence of fans so that they would constitute a part of it. It’s not a live album though as the audience only watched without any interference on their part.
“Before The Frost…” and “…Until The Freeze,” together feature 20 tracks including 8 new songs. Among the tracks are “Good Morning Captain,” “Appaloosa,” “A Train Still Makes A Lonely Sound,” “Shine Along,” “So Many Times” and others. It took them five days to complete the recording sessions at Levon Helm Studios.
The scheduled album release date is September 1. The day coincides with the 20th anniversary of their album, “Shake Your Money Maker.” You may remember that the album signified a real boom in rock music.
